Affinity Audit Pack Two
Twenty randomly drawn chart factors and what the engine considers to carry the same signature. A second pass, after the first audit’s findings were acted on.
What the engine is claiming
For a given chart factor, it lists others that mean the same thing, however differently they are built. Moon in the 8th house and Moon opposition Pluto share almost no name and are the same signature: the Moon meeting Pluto, once by angle and once because the 8th house is Pluto’s.
The score is gene overlap on the archetypal layer only — function, quality, process, chart layer. Planet identity, the aspect angle and the house number are deliberately excluded, because the question is does this mean the same thing, not is this the same factor.
What to check
Is the stated signature the right reading of that factor?
Does each listed match genuinely express that same signature?
Is anything obviously missing that a working astrologer would expect?
Is the ordering sane — should any row rank above or below another?
Reading the lists. Scores are 0–100 and the pool is cut at 85. Routes: aspect is an angle between two bodies, house a body in a house, sign a body in a sign. Layers: a query only matches inside its own family — self (natal + draconic), timing (transit + progressed), relational (synastry + composite).
How these were chosen
Randomly, not hand-picked — the first pack was selected by the engine’s author and could have flattered it. The draw is stratified across the six chart layers and three routes so every combination appears, then random inside each stratum from a fixed seed. The only restriction is that a query must be a factor a real chart can contain. None appeared in the first pack, and the sample is noticeably harder: it is full of asteroids, nodes and angles rather than the classical planets.
Known limits
Stated up front so the audit isn’t spent rediscovering them:
A one-function signature (Sun in Leo = “Self”) is inherently broad and returns a large pool. Honest, not a bug — anything Sun-flavoured does share it.
Synastry has no “in Signs” category in the data (zero components), so synastry queries have no sign route.
Chart figures (Yod, T-Square, Grand Trine) are excluded: they carry no function at all, and a Stellium carries one, so they matched one end of a two-ended signature.
Component naming is inconsistent in the source data — some composite rows carry the “Composite” prefix and some don’t; Saturn Conjunct Mercury is stored reversed.

ALREADY ACTED ON FROM THE FIRST AUDIT — please don't spend the pass re-finding these:
 - A sign's traditional CO-RULER was a co-equal function, so the 8th house read
 "Feeling x Power x Will" against a Moon-Pluto aspect's "Feeling x Power". Co-rulers are
 now a weaker class that matches only another co-ruler, never a full function.
 - Repeated functions were being deduplicated, so "Sun in Leo" collapsed to a single Self
 and matched anything Sun-flavoured at 100%. A doubled function now survives as "x2".
 - A missing defining function barely cost anything: "Neptune in Pisces" scored 99% against
 "Jupiter in Pisces" while carrying no Expansion. Function genes now weigh 6x the
 quality/process genes; that pair is 70% and below the cut.
 - Aliases were invisible to the decomposer. "True Node in Leo" and "DC in 6th House" had no
 Node or Descendant genes at all, which is why they matched everything.
 - The score was described as "the same meaning". It is an ARCHETYPAL MATCH.
TWO BEHAVIOURS I AM NOT SURE ABOUT — your judgement wanted specifically:
 1. RULERSHIP ANALOGUES ACROSS DIFFERENT HOUSES. Query 6, "Vertex in 3rd House", returns
 "Vertex in 6th House" at 99% because the 3rd and the 6th are both Mercury-ruled. The
 signature is identical (Mind x Fate) but the life areas are not. Is 99% right, or should
 two different houses sharing a ruler sit lower than two routes to one placement?
 2. A CANDIDATE THAT CONTAINS THE QUERY PLUS MORE. Query 7, "IC in Cancer" (Feeling x Roots),
 returns "Sun in 4th House", "Mercury in 4th House" and "Mars in 4th House" at 92%: each
 carries Feeling and Roots from the 4th, and adds its own planet on top. The query's
 pattern is fully present, so the score stays high. Is that a fair match for someone with
 IC in Cancer, or is the added planet enough to make it a different thing?
